Why Small Groups?
God designed us for community with Himself and with others. Life is meant to be shared. A Small Group at Bethany Church is a great way to get to know others face to face as you study God’s Word, pray for one another and serve the community. Not only will you be encouraged on your journey of faith, but you too will be a source of encouragement as you share life together in spiritual community.
How are Small Groups different from Bethany’s Life Stage groups?
Small Groups are gatherings of 4-12 people doing life together. Through fellowship, Bible study, discussion, prayer, and service opportunities, participants grow in their love for God and others. Groups may include individuals from a particular Life Stage, be multi-age, couples based or gender specific.
Bethany’s Life Stage groups are mid-sized groups formed around a particular stage of life (ex. Young Married Couples, Parents of Students, Senior Adults, etc.). Sunday morning teaching is centered on God’s Word and often addresses those issues unique to the group. Bethany also offers two multi-age groups as well as a group for women. All of these Life Stage groups provide a bridge from our Sunday Worship Services to Small Group community.
How do I join a group?
Joining a Small Group is easy - find one that interests you and go check it out. Browse Bethany’s Small Groups using the "Find a Group" link on our website. Then email the Host/Leader to see if the group will be a good fit. You can also contact Andrea Hendrix at the church office (562) 597-2411 x114 or ahendrix@bethanylb.org and she will work to connect you with a group leader.
What happens if I can’t attend one of the listed groups?
If you are unable to connect in a group at this time, we encourage you to check Bethany’s website as new groups and opportunities will become available. In the meantime, consider joining a Life Stage Group or attending one of the Tuesday night electives offered periodically throughout the year. You may also want to consider becoming a Small Group Host and inviting others to join you. Can my children be in a Small Group with me?
Bethany’s Small Groups are designed for adults to “do life” together. However, if you are a parent you know that life does include your kids. Not all groups can accommodate children, but some have worked out a way for children to be cared for while parents meet. Many include children in activities such as BBQs and service projects.
